Brighton's Leading Dance Music Stream
Listen live to Brighton's
No 1 urban dance music party!
Girls Fm first started broadcasting pirate radio in Brighton from late 80s - 1996, and specialized in all genres of dance music, from Reggae to Rap, Disco to Drum & Bass. They took the underground dance scene by storm with a raw and infectious rave energy. Presenter and DJ, Kenny Hawkes joined the station and later, moved to London and managed it until early 1996. Huckleberry Finn, Kenny Hawkes, DJ Bird & Kenny Charles were also a big part of the Girls FM family. At its height, Girls FM had over a million listeners. Kenny has since sadly passed away. R.I.P
Girls FM comes home to Brighton! We aim to be Brighton's leading dance music station, the party capital of the UK. We play a wide range of the coolest and latest R&B, Rap, Reggae, House and Grime, from Old Skool Disco to D&B... raw music energy to your ears, without all the anoying ads!
Girls FM has noticed the lack of diversity in the dance music radio community, so we actively promote and encourage the new up and coming Grime, Trap & dance music artists, and also respect the pioneers and legends of soul and reggae. These artists resonate strongly with us where some may dismiss as too offensive.
Many radio stations lack the knowledge of dance music culture and foundation, due to today's dance music being largely european. The truth is, dance music is largely black music, enjoyed by everyone.
